Re-Inhabiting our Bodies

"Re-Inhabiting our Bodies" is a one-day silent retreat that will allow you to come back to embodied presence in a compassionate,

safe and trauma-informed container.

November 6th, 2022

10am - 5pm EST

Online, via Zoom

Emotions, pleasure, pain, tension, memories, traumas: the body is the vehicle and the repository of the deepest truths of our experience. It is a place of infinite wisdom and uncompromising authenticity, and a gateway to the vastness of awakened consciousness. Nothing we experience as humans happens outside the body.

And yet, so many of us feel disconnected from our bodies: we can't feel anything below our neck, or we have the impression of living in a control tower somewhere behind our eyes. Our bodies feel more like objects, something we own and need to slim down or enlarge, mortify or flaunt. We may feel ashamed of them, or overwhelmed by the memories and wounds they carry.

As we come back to our bodies, we regain access to the richness and fullness of our human experience. Accessing our bodies helps us recognize the truth of our needs, rather than the intellectualized chatter in our minds, and act more authentically in the world. It helps us make peace with our old wounds, so the fear of them stops controlling us. It helps us learn to be with pain and difficult experiences, teaching us acceptance and resilience.

As we re-inhabit our bodies, we become more fully ourselves. But how do we do it?

During this retreat, I will share with you the techniques that helped me, and continue to help my clients, come back to embodied awareness from severe nervous system dysregulation, trauma and dissociation. Anyone can benefit greatly from these gentle techniques! Together, we will...

  • Playfully awaken our cranial nerves, key neural pathways that help us perceive the world and our place in it, using gentle techniques informed by neuroscience;

  • Cultivate our proprioception and interoception, or the ability to feel our bodies in space and from within

  • Help the brain map out the body using the tongue;

  • Learn to feel patterns of energy in the body;

  • Listen to our emotions as they are expressed in the body;

  • Practice delivering unconditional love and compassion to our bodies;

  • Experience silence and give our bodies the time to 'speak';

  • Cultivate mindfulness;

  • Integrate our experience in a safe and compassionate container;

  • ... and much more!

About your Teacher

Federico Petrelli is a mindfulness teacher and healing facilitator; his mindfulness teachers and greatest inspirations include Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. Federico's life was forever changed when a neurological disorder prevented him from speaking, chewing and walking; rather than giving up, he worked tirelessly to help his nervous system to work again. Blending the ancient wisdom of mindfulness and self-compassion, energy medicine and innovative techniques he developed, he got his life back, to the astonishment of his doctors. His mission is to help others heal and wake up to our true nature: waves in an ocean of loving presence.

Praise for Federico's Mindfulness Teaching

"Federico is a very kind, compassionate and listening teacher. He is very attentive to your path and helps a lot with the trouble or questions you encounter while meditating. Having meditated one year with an app and having the feeling of going in circles, the course Federico gave opened new doors. He helped me to redefine my practice with more kindness and compassion, and gave me a large panel of helpful tools to work on every situations. I recommend him enthusiastically." - Raphaël D.

"In Federico's meditation class, I discovered how rich and diverse meditation practice can be. He has a

very attentive and compassionate way of holding space for people and making them feel welcome. His

classes in general and the text group check-ins inbetween meetings created a vulnerable and authentic

space of connectedness. I really learned to celebrate my everyday process, its ups and downs, with

curiosity and kindness, and I left the class feeling really grateful for the experience." - Alissa B.

"It was a pleasure to be introduced in meditation by Federico. His welcoming class helped me a lot to

discover all the issues of meditation. I understood a lot of thing about myself and the world around me.

It helped me to be more peaceful with myself and the world and bring compassion to it. Federico is a

nice, interesting, comprehensive teacher who showed me, with delicacy and softness, the way of a

spiritual growth. I can't thank him enough for that." - Zoé M.

"Federico is a gift to experience. I'd be hard-pressed to imagine a more passionate, sensitive, warm, and articulate teacher." - Jeff C.
